ICYMI - Increase to Virginia Minimum Wage, with Another Scheduled Increase Right Around the Corner

On May 1, 2021, the Virginia minimum wage increased to $9.50 per hour.  On January 1, 2022, the Virginia minimum wage will increase again – to $11.00 per hour.  These increases are part of legislation passed in 2020 by the Virginia General Assembly, establishing incremental increases to the minimum hourly wage in order to “march to $15.00” by January 1, 2026.  The final two phases of increases – one scheduled for January 1, 2025 and the last one for January 1, 2026, are subject to enactment by the General Assembly.  For more information, the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry has published a Minimum Wage Update.
